Gloucester Twp Sloths Preview

Sloth Nation winning Cool Hockey Events' North American Ball Hockey Championships C Division in 2018

Ryan Pavlik and Eric Gladfelter are best friends. They are co-workers. And they are lovers (of ball hockey). There is nothing these two want more than an EBHL championship. After their run to the finals in 2017, the Sloth fathers expected nothing less than a title in 2018. The Sloths took the top seed into the playoffs and ran into the Hawks in the semi finals. Sloth Nation battled but lost in a hard fought three games series. Pavlik and Gladfelter will do anything not to let this happen again. Literally anything. Seriously, you do not want to know what lengths these guys would go to in order to prevent this from happening again. The first thing they did in their quest for redemption was make some offseason moves.

The Sloths signed forwards Keith Allen and Ryan Laserre, two offensive talents who will bolster an offense that is already one of the strongest in the EBHL. These new signings join forwards Jim Privito, Charlie Novelli, Captain Ryan Pavlik and 2017 MVP Ryan Morrow, all of whom have scored over two points per game in their EBHL careers. The Sloth offense has some of the best chemistry in the entire league and will pick up right where they left off last season.

2018’s Most Valuable Goaltender Nick McCleary looks to continue his hot streak from last season, where he set the EBHL all time record for lowest goals against average with a 3.44 GAA. With Eric Gladfelter, Jeff Tanski, Steve Rodier, and Alex Higareda in front of him, the Sloth defense has some big bodies that will be VERY difficult to penetrate. Missing from the Sloth defense is super star Mark McGuigan, who has hired to be the head coach of the Sloths. Marks bench presence will be fierce and intimidating and he will demand incredible efforts from the Sloth players. Mark has been called “a ball hockey genius” and ”king of the dek” by the ball hockey media and looks to lead his players to a deep playoff run.

The Sloths are one of the most talented teams in the league. This team has been together for years, winning multiple tournaments and games since they began playing in men’s leagues together in 2013. One of the only things the Sloths haven’t won is an EBHL championship and they will stop at nothing to take the EBHL trophy home. Expect the Sloths to be one of the best teams in the league every week while attempting to work their way back to the EBHL finals.
